“Development of the Hellenic Parliament’s Online Portal and Training of its Users and Administrators”

The expected results of the project are summarized as follows:

• The creation of a focal point for informing and updating the public on issues related both to the Parliament as a whole, as well as to the wider policy area.
• The creation of a starting point for informing interested parties on the Public Administration.
• In particular, and with regard to the parliament the provision of relevant information to interested parties regarding:
  • The philosophy and goals of the Hellenic Parliament regarding the promotion of Democracy and Institutions and the importance it attaches to the Citizen.
  • The procedure of the work accomplished (Legislative, Audit, European Representation etc) and the policies implemented.
• The promotion of interaction and participation at various levels, covering the following topics:
  • To create a dynamic, evolving and interactive communication tool between the Parliament and the citizens, the general public and all the stakeholders in general, giving them the opportunity to publicize their views on a public forum open for reflection and discussion.
  • To create an infrastructure for secure information and interaction of the Parliament with special audiences such as journalists, MPs, e.t.c.
  • To induce the Greek and European Citizen and, in generally, any other interested person to actively engage in political life within the context of the possibilities offered by Democracy and the institutional / legislative framework.
  • To promote the inclusion and participation in public affairs of special population groups, such as people with disabilities, ethnic minorities e.t.c.
• The adoption of a systematic way of collecting and managing the content within the needs of the Portal covering:
  • Defining procedures for gathering, scrutinizing and disseminating content concerning the Parliament.
  • Creation of a specific plan for the concentration and content management covering various areas of activity (Administration, Economy, Health, Social Policy etc.)
  • Support co-operation between public authorities to provide information in a homogeneous and consistent manner to stakeholders, with appropriate interoperability measures in the system level and co-operation in the institutional level.
• The promotion of the Parliament’s, and in general the public administration’s, image through an implementation that will be bound by :
  • Integrated and functional structure to express the intention of the Greek Parliament for completeness of information and interaction.
  • Fine aesthetic design so as to bring to the visitor the communication policy of the Hellenic Parliament.
  • Safe Interaction and confirmation of the validity of content through modern technological mechanisms and processes.
  • Consistency, continuity and completeness of the information provided.
• The provision of a reference point as well as of the necessary tools to support the work carried out by Parliamentary executives responsible for the relevant information processes and management of content of information, with particular emphasis on issues such as:
  • Content and service security
  • Completeness in meeting actual work needs
  • High usability

Individual technological objectives that are linked to the achievement above, are as follows:

• Enriching Parliament's technological infrastructure
• Consolidation of existing Parliament websites.

Exploitation of existing applications supporting the functioning of the Parliament.
