European Programs Implementation Service of the Hellenic Parliament

HISTORICAL BACKGROUND OF THE EUROPEAN PROGRAMS IMPLEMENTATION SERVICE

The European Programs Implementation Service (EPIS) of the Hellenic Parliament (HeP) was established in 2006, as part of the HeP’s strategic choice for the exploitation of European funds and financing, by the unanimous decision of the plenary and with all political parties voting positively.

Since its inception, EPIS participates systematically in co-financed actions (3rd CSF, NSRF 2007-2013, NSRF 2014-2020) and in projects funded directly by the European Union (FP7, Twinning, HORIZON 2020), cooperating with the NSRF Services (Authorities and Special Management Services) as well as with the Services of the European Commission (Directorates General and Executive Agencies).

It is worth noting that in addition to the other services of HeP, EPIS also collaborates with the Independent Authorities (through programme contracts), since, according to the  Collective Decision of HeP, projects of the Independent Authorities  which participate in relevant European Union programs, can register for funding.

EPIS continues to implement major projects and actions to date, resolving lasting and long-standing requests from HeP’s Services and the Independent Authorities. Requests concerning, among other things, issues of digitization and preservation of valuable archival material, better internal organization of services, energy saving, improvement of the services provided to citizens, etc.
