Implementing body: Hellenic Parliament – EPIS
Sub-project titles: 1. Supply of electromechanical equipment for chiller plant
2. Energy upgrading of the Parliament Building of the Hellenic Parliament
3. Issue of Energy Efficiency certificate after completion of the project
Final Beneficiary: Hellenic Parliament
Duration: 29 months
Summary
Reduction of the energy consumption of the Hellenic Parliament’s Main Building by means of Energy Saving interventions in the cooling system and in the building shell (thermal insulation of the roof / new window frames on the facades), BMS automation system (with interfacing to the lighting, cooling, heating system) .
Purpose
The Action is expected to address the critical problem of high-energy consumption and increased operating costs, in line with the general process of rationalization of public sector spending. Deliverables of Action are:
• New electromechanical equipment of the chiller plant in full operation.
• Increase the energy efficiency of the Hellenic Parliament’s main building by at least one (1) efficiency category- or decrease the energy consumption by at least 30% with newer, more efficient energy saving systems.
Results
The implementation of the measures will lead to a significant reduction in annual energy consumption, of at least 30%, while at the same time a significant reduction in carbon dioxide emissions will be achieved, amounting to 39% per year. Over time, significant cost savings will be accrued for the Greek state, while the reduction of CO2 emissions will also bring significant environmental benefits. The Action will also improve the viability and living conditions (heating / cooling) of the historical Parliament Building of the Hellenic Parliament, where parliamentary assemblies are held daily and citizen visits are hosted.
