Summary

The project was assosiated to the documentation, exploitation and promotion of the Collections held and managed by the Hellenic Parliament and which form a valuable and unique component of the Greek culture.

Objectives

The collection, recording, coding, digitization and documentation of the HeP’s Library Cultural Collections (Newspapers, Rare Collections, Artworks, Museum Objects, Bibliographies) held and managed by the Hellenic Parliament.

Results

  1. The systematic and structured introduction of the new information technologies in the process of recording and documenting the Hellenic Parliament’s Collections with the creation of an integrated digital library that works in parallel with and complementary to the actual library.
  2. The procurement of a system for the management of the Library’s electronic and digital databases and the electronic processing and documentation of the material in the Library Collections.
  3. The digitization and documentation of the valuable issues collections.
  4. The development of a digital library of newspapers and magazines with the digital conversion of microfilms that have already been produced and the completion of the project with the direct digitization of newspapers and magazines in order to make them available through state-of-the-art information and communications technologies (ICT).
  5. The digitization of bibliographies of national importance.
