Project INTER|PARES “Parliaments in Partnership”

Funding body: European Union, under the European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights (EIDHR)

Managed by: European Commission in coordination with the European External Action Service (EEAS) and the European Parliament

Implemented by: the International Institute for DemocXracy and Electoral Assistance (International IDEA), with the expertise of EU Member State parliaments (Hellenic Parliament partnership)

Duration: : 3 years, 2019-2021

 

Project INTER|PARES “Parliaments in Partnership” (https://www.idea.int/news-media/multimedia-reports/inter-pares-parliaments-partnership) is a part of the EU Global Project to Strengthen the Capacity of Parliaments that aims to strengthen representative and inclusive democracy through support to the effective functioning of parliaments in partner countries, by enhancing their legislative, oversight, representative, budgetary and administrative functions. This Action, the first of global nature, is a further step towards contributing towards making parliaments in partner countries more effective, transparent, accountable, representative and approachable.

 

INTER|PARES PARTNERSHIP WITH THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY AND NATIONAL COUNCIL OF BHUTAN

In this framework Hellenic Parliament – EPIS is participating in the INTER|PARES programme with the National Assembly and the National Council of Bhutan. This programme is going to take place for 6 months starting spring 2020 and the Hellenic Parliament’s expert taskforce will collaborate under INTER|PARES coordination with the Danish and Hungarian Parliament to provide a peer-to peer task force guidance to the colleague Parliamentarians of Bhutan. Experts from the action’s areas of interest are eager to share their knowledge and provide technical support to their Bhutanese colleagues.
