Summary

Exploitation of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) by the Hellenic Parliament, which contributes to upgrading its activities, providing equal access for all citizens to the proceedings of the Hellenic Parliament and a large volume of information about its modern and contemporary history.

Purpose

The project aimed at the exploitation of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) by the Hellenic Parliament, which would contribute to upgrading its activities and would provide equal access for all citizens to the proceedings of the Hellenic Parliament and a large volume of information about its modern and contemporary history. It has been made possible, through the exploitation of ICTs, to enable full communication and interaction between citizens and the Hellenic Parliament. In this way, better information for citizens (in Greece and abroad), their capacity to participate actively in political life events and their equal service in electronic transactions, were achieved. The blueprints implementation has contributed dynamically to eGovernment, creating a reliable, standardized and functional environment through the use of ICT applications. Moreover, the preservation and the promotion of the political and cultural heritage of the Hellenic Parliament through the Web was achieved, offering timely and comprehensive information to the general public. It provides significant benefits to the citizens (in Greece and abroad), special population groups such as people with disabilities, migrants, etc. – the scientific community - teachers - MPs – and political parties.

Results

The ability to prepare three key infrastructure projects, implemented at a national level, was realized. This in turn contributed to the strategic development of the Operational Program "Digital Convergence" of the 4th programming period and in particular, to the objectives of the Priority Axis 2 "ICT and Improvement in the Quality of Life", as well as the goals of the Special Objective 2.1 "Improving Everyday Life Through ICT - Equitable Citizen Participation in Digital Greece" (Subprojects 1 and 3) and Specific Objective 2.2 "Development of Digital Public Administration Services for the citizen "(Subproject 2).
